Day 5 – Dyrhólaey, Reyjavik, and Blue Lagoon

The morning of day 5 started with us going to Dyrhólaey. Being at Dyrhólaey is in my top 3 favorite parts of our trip in Iceland. The views were fantastic and the weather this day was crystal clear.

After Dyrhólaey Grainne and I headed to Reyjavik. Although we had flown into Reyjavik, we hadn’t actually seen the city as we landed and started driving towards the Golden Circle right away. I really enjoyed walking around the small city. We also stopped for a nice break here and read our books in a local coffee shop.

We left Reyjavik and headed for Blue Lagoon to relax in the natural geothermal spa. We had silica face masks put on and just spa’d it up for a little bit. It was a fun experience and a great way to end the trip after five full days of adventuring.

Just like that the trip was over. After leaving Blue Lagoon we went back to our hotel where we got about 3 hours of sleep before waking up for our flight to Ireland for the wedding. Overall it was a beautiful trip that we really enjoyed, but it also was a lot of driving. One day we might come back to Iceland in the winter to see the Northern Lights and go into some really big ice caves, but until then, there’s a lot more places in the world to visit and explore.
