On Friday, the six of us went to Seattle for the day. Long-story-short some of us ended up staying an extra day because the airline was overbooked and we gave up our seats (for a nice chunk of $$$). So, these pictures from Downtown Seattle are actually two days in one, and even then I’m skipping over the very first thing we did. When we got to Seattle we got tickets to go see the Chihuly Glass Museum and to go to the top of the Space Needle. The Chihuly Glass Museum was amazing and the pictures from there can be found here. We really enjoyed Seattle and I think I could even see myself moving there one day. Maybe because it never rained the whole time we were there, but we found it to be a fun and very clean city (I may have also been pre-triggered to cleanliness after my experience in Portland).

After the Chiluly Glass Museum, we went to the top of the Space Needle. This was really fun to walk around and see the city. The city landscape combined with the ocean and mountains made for some beautiful pictures. Below is a picture of Jack and Mary:

After the glass museum and the Space Needle we went to Pike Place Market for lunch. I had the clam chowder and fish & chips and they were delicious. Pike Place Market reminded me a little bit of the public markets in Vietnam. Although this was dedicated to food and Vietnam’s markets would have literally everything, the crowded spaces and seeing the shops as far back as the eye can see definitely made me recognize some similarities between the two. It was fun to walk through and see all of the items being sold. Below is a picture of Grainne and I before we walked through the market.

If you walked a level below Pike Place Market, you’d find the Market Gum Wall. It’s so large I thought it deserved it’s own section of pictures. That’s all gum! And it’s even on the alley’s other wall as well!

The Gum Wall more or less wrapped up the sites we saw in Seattle that day. The below pictures are actually from the following day when we thought we’d be on an early morning flight home but instead got to spend another morning and afternoon in Seattle. We went back to Pike Place Market and then walked along some piers and the ocean and through a nice park area. Below are the pictures from our Saturday just hanging out around the ocean.

After hanging out in the morning and early afternoon we headed to the airport to head back home. That was the end of our awesome trip! The snowboarding was great, Portland was OK, and we absolutely loved Seattle. But, there’s still one page left to see, and that’s everything from the Chihuly Glass Museum. Click here for that. This was by far one of the coolest things I’ve seen in awhile and I really hope to get back for another tour one day.
