Day 2 – Hanoi, Vietnam

Day 2 in Hanoi was supposed to be dedicated to plenary meetings, but since we only had one meeting in the morning, it turned into a pretty relaxing day just walking around the park area, buying fake Under Armour shirts, and eating some good food. But first, two pictures from our plenary meeting at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Hanoi:

The most interesting thing about this meeting is that in Cambodia and Vietnam we had been told how the government was trying to get rid of corruption by requiring their high-level employees to submit Asset lists every year so they could make sure all of the sudden they weren’t having assets that they couldn’t afford. The Mercedes-Benz dealership told us that recently they had a company purchase 50 Benz’s from them so that they could lease them out to the government officials (and by lease they would thus keep them off their Asset lists). I thought that was really interesting.

After the Mercedes-Benz meeting we just walked around Hanoi, visiting the Ho Hoan Kiem pond and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Below are the pictures I took walking around:

To end the day before our flight, a big group of us went to have British Tea, which basically meant I had small sandwiches and a ton of dessert, buffet style.

After stuffing myself, it was time to head to the airport for our final destination, Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City. Click here for our first day in Saigon/HCMC.
